Saffiyah, scion of House Helviani, is in big trouble. This (relatively) young Drow of average build carries herself with the smooth confidence of an aristocrat. She wears finely-tooled leather armour. More than one cutpurse has decided against picking her pocket when they laid eyes on the wand carved from a human femur.
House Helviani’s fortunes were faltering, exacerbated by the fact that its holdings were closest to the surface: raids by adventurers and orcish war-bands were all too common. Saffiyah was sent out into the world five years ago with a task: forge a trade alliance with one of the surface nations. With it, House Helviani can commission a mercenary company to guard the caravans of goods traveling into and out of the Underdark.
Saffiyah’s travels took her to one of the many forbidding desert city-states. There, she was struck by the endless starry vista of the night sky. Delving into proscribed lore penned by mad sages, she found she could harness a modicum of power from those entities that dwelled in the cold, forbidding gulfs between the stars.
As with all things in Drow society, Saffiyah’s reason for adventuring comes down to one word: Politics.
